U.P. Food Makers Invited to Pitch Ideas for Chance at Customized Business Services

Small and aspiring food makers in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula could have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a panel of industry experts for a chance to win customized business support services. Applications for the U.P. Food Processing Businesses Virtual Pitch Competition are due by Friday, February 5. Selected finalists will be invited to a virtual pitch competition on Tuesday, February 23.

Final awardees may choose from several customized support services, such as strategic business development; production and processing space; buyer connections; brand development, graphic design, and logo creation; website and e-commerce development; photography and video production; business systems audit; and more.

The goal of the event is to identify and support up-and-coming food businesses in the Upper Peninsula that are looking for specific resources to help them scale up their operations.

The program is hosted by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Small Business Development Center, Michigan State University Product Center, and U.P. Food Exchange.
