September is Suicide Prevention Month, and farm families need to be aware. Craig Vorhees, a member of the Suicide Resource and Response Network, says the agriculture industry is historically is one of the most susceptible to mental health.
“With all the other stresses going on this year, it’s something to keep an eye out,” he said.
Vorhees says to keep an eye out for signs a loved one might be struggling.
“If they mentioned death, talking about suicide, drastic mood swings, if they’re withdrawn, or aren’t interested in things they used to,” he said.
