Reports of Impressive Corn and Soybean Harvest Results across Southern Michigan

So far in Michigan, 30 percent of corn has been harvested for grain and 63 percent of soybeans have been harvested, according to the USDA as of Oct. 23.

Stuart Welden, Field Sales Representative with Specialty Hybrids based out of Hillsdale County, Michigan.

Stewart Welden – a Field Sales Representative for Specialty Hybrids based in Hillsdale County says harvest has progressed a lot further across southern Michigan than the USDA’s most recent projected completion numbers. He believes soybean harvest is at or near completion, while corn harvest is picking up rapidly.

“Based on those numbers I would say here in south central Michigan in the lower mitten, it is probably a little bit better than those numbers given this week’s activities,” according to Welden.

“Yields are definitely above average both with beans and corn. I would suspect that the lower Michigan bean harvest will be wrapping up in the next 10 days, and full bore onto the remaining corn that’s standing.”
