Rains Simultaneously Benefit, Hamper Crop Conditions

For some crops, the warm, wet conditions helped push maturity along, but halted some harvest plans. Sugarbeet harvest in the Thumb was slow going due to the rain, but the corn and soybean crop conditions benefited from the rain. Some areas received up to 2 inches of rain.

45 percent of Michigan’s corn is rated good to excellent, and 45 percent of the state’s soybean crop is in the same category.

Apple harvest is still going strong, with Gala, McIntosh and Empire harvest nearing completion.
