Planting Weather Forecast: Rain Returns for the Weekend and Late Next Week

[the_ad id=”33049″]

A nearly perfect week for drying last week, with lots of sunshine and warm air. We don’t get quite as nice of a week this week, but we do miss some moisture that our neighbors to the south don’t, so we do have a chance for some additional field work this week.

Rain arrives later Saturday as clouds increase and moisture pushes in from the west. Scattered showers will be seen over MI, starting in the west, Saturday afternoon, continuing through mid-night. Totals do not look dramatic at a few hundredths to half an inch and coverage at 70%. Sunday is mostly dry, but we have to watch for some pop up showers in the thumb and far southern tier counties late Sunday evening and overnight. If you do see rain in SE MI, totals will likely be .25” or less.

We expect sunny and dry weather from Monday through Thursday midday. Temps will be cooler Monday through Wednesday and will start to warm Thursday. Scattered showers move into areas from I-96 south on Thursday night, bringing .1”-.5” and 60% coverage.

Well organized rain and thunderstorms move into the region to finish the week next week late Friday and hang around through Saturday and Sunday morning. Combined rain totals for that period can be .25”- 1.25” with coverage at 80%. The map at right shows combined 10 day rain totals, and most of these totals come out of the action next Friday night through Sunday morning.

We dry down Sunday afternoon and should stay dry to finish the 10 day window on Monday the 23rd.

Extended Period:

The extended 11-16 day period starts active with a storm complex for the 24th that could bring heavy rain. But then we go dry from the 25th through the 30th, with above normal temps and good drying again.
