Global Impacts on Fertilizer Prices Could Impact Acreage in 2022

The dynamics in the fertilizer markets have been changing so quickly that it’s hard to keep up, even if you’re in the business. At this week’s Michigan Agri-Business Association’s Ag Club Breakfast, Josh Linville, director of fertilizer of StoneX, says it’s not a localized situation, rather a global one.

“A lot of people like to focus on the region, and rightfully so because that’s where they live,” he says. “It’s happening because of the European natural gas prices, the China energy crash. Like it or not, we are part of a global fertilizer network and what’s going on around the world is affecting every farmer.”

Linville talks about how this could impact the acreage mix in 2022 and how to keep your emotions in check. You can listen to the full conversation in the November 11, 2021 MAT Podcast in the player below.
