After a Nice Harvest Weekend, Scattered Showers Could Hit Parts of Michigan

Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin has more sunny, warm, and dry conditions for harvest this weekend in his latest Harvest Weather Forecast brought to you by Seed Genetics Direct and Greenstone Farm Credit Services.

Martin’s weekend forecast looks pretty good.

“We have high pressure sitting right on top of us today and tomorrow. Late tomorrow it shifts a little bit farther off to the east allowing for, I think, a little bit of a change in pattern, but I’m also going to give you most of Sunday for harvest opportunity as well. Southern Lower Michigan, I think, sees clouds increase late Sunday, but I don’t see moisture until after sunset on Sunday night.”

Overnight Sunday night into Monday, Martin is on the lookout for scattered showers.

“Draw a line from the tip of the Thumb up around Bad Axe back down to Berrien Springs- you go south of that line I have to allow for a few hundreds to maybe three or four tenths of moisture out of the system that’s coming up from the south and southwest. The rest of the state sees nothing in that period. And I think with that kind of moisture flowing through we also have to say that we’re going to dry down and maybe get sunshine back relatively quickly Monday afternoon. Once we do that, we are sunny, warm, and dry for Tuesday through Saturday. I think our next moisture does not push in here till maybe Sunday the 6th.”

With that rain coming the 6th or the 7th, Martin says it could be formidable.

“Maybe a 1/2 to 1 inch in parts of Michigan, but the system is still growing, developing, and changing. So, we’ll see how the next few days, go take a look at some new data, and update you on the potential for this next week.”
