Going through a divorce can be very difficult. It can be even more difficult if you’re a farmer or livestock producer and the process involves the assets of your farming operation.
Jackie Hallberg is the Executive Director of Mediation and Restorative Services based in Muskegon. However, her office and her team serve the western Michigan area.
Hallberg recently chatted with Michigan Ag Today about the many services and options available for farmers facing divorce–including the Michigan Agricultural Mediation Program. She says mediation can save you a lot of money when going through the divorce process, since the mediation services are free through the Michigan Community Mediation Association.
She also says mediators can also meet with married couples who are having difficulties in their relationships to help create a path for improvement in the relationship before divorce becomes an option.
