On Friday, the USDA released its grain production forecast.
In the November report, corn production is forecast at 13.7 billion bushels, down 1 percent from the October report. USDA dropped yields 1.4 bushels per acre from the October report to 167 bpa. The area for harvested grain is believed to be at 81.8 million acres, unchanged from October.
Soybean production is forecast at 3.55 billion bushels, down from the October report. Soybean yields remained unchanged from the October report, forecast at 46.9 bushels per acre. There is believed to be 75.6 million harvested acres for soybeans, also unchanged from the last forecast, and down 14 percent from Oct. 2018.
In Michigan, it’s estimated corn will yield 151 bushels an acre and soybeans will yield 51 bushels an acre. Both of those are lower than October’s estimates.
It’s forecast that Michigan sugar beets will yield will see 27.9 tons an acre, a slight increase from last month’s estimate
