Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin says the lake effect cloud cover will decrease allowing for less wind and sunshine moving into the weekend.
“It’s mostly due to the fact that northwest winds are not nearly as strong for your Saturday and Sunday. As a matter of fact high pressure builds in over northern parts of lower Michigan before Saturday. And under a high pressure dome like that you do not see any wind. So the lack of winds should allow for more sunshine which will allow us to bounce off some of those chills that we saw earlier this week. I am calling for an completely dry finish to the weekend. I think the lake effect precipitation reached it’s zenith Tuesday, Wednesday even into early Thursday. I think the rest of this period we don’t have much coming on precipitation.”
According to Martin, next week is going to be dry with one exception…southwest of lower Michigan.
“I think we have to watch out for a few hit and miss scattered showers there Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Otherwise, the rest of us should be precipitation-free Monday through Thursday night, early Friday morning. Temperatures are going to yo-yo back and forth a little bit. We should be mild to start the week maybe easing back with some northern flow trying to come back Wednesday-Thursday.”
Martin believes we could see a front coming through that may haunt us for Halloween.
“That front comes through gives a chance for showers, half an inch or less over about 75-80% of Michigan. But the upper level low that trails is going to take it’s own sweet time drifting through Michigan over the rest of the weekend (Nov 1st and 2nd). We are going to be seeing plenty of clouds and some gusty winds. But here’s the thing, a dramatic push of cold air. If you have not gotten a frost or freeze yet, your time’s coming. This upcoming weekend, Halloween night to Saturday and Sunday night, we’ve got frost and freezes easily everywhere. Behind it though we warm quickly for that first full week of Novemeber. I think we’re well above normal on temperatures by Tuesday the 4th – Wednesday the 5th.”
