Weather Will Continue to be Dry to Finish Out the Week

Weather will continue to be dry to finish out the week. That’s according to Michigan Ag Today Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin in his first Harvest Weather Forecast of the season presented by M&W Seeds.  He says there’s an upper-level low circulating to our west that will bring in some cloud cover.
“Not looking at significant moisture right away but don’t rule out the odd shower in Northwestern parts of Michigan. The Traverse City area that’s where I think we’re going to be seeing the biggest threat of moisture right away on Saturday. For the rest of the state especially Southern lower Michigan, Southeast Michigan, the thumb all should stay dry all the way through Saturday and into early Sunday morning.”

The remains of that upper-level low will be making its way toward the rest of Michigan for the balance of the weekend and even into Monday and Tuesday.

“On again off again scattered showers. The moisture is not huge. I’m going to say we’re going to end up with about 90% coverage, mostly due to the fact that there’s a very good spot of moisture that comes through Sunday night through Monday morning. I think that we end up with about 90% coverage with rains at a quarter to three quarters of an inch. I think we see slightly higher totals, maybe an inch or more, down in southern to lower Michigan by the time we wake up Tuesday morning.”

Once this system is done, Martin is watching another weather system in the Central Plains that will move through Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week.
“In Michigan I think there’s more of the story for areas south of 96 those days and we are dry, very dry Tuesday, Wednesday, early Thursday in areas further north. But once we get into that Friday/Saturday time frame we are going to be seeing moisture to lift North through the entirety of the state. So everybody’s got a chance of getting more moisture next week.”
