When your kids ask for that Happy Meal from McDonald’s, there’s a good chance those apple slices came from an orchard right here in Michigan. That cheese atop your Big Mac could also be coming from a Michigan dairy farm. That’s because McDonald’s of Michigan buys local and supports Michigan agriculture.
In fact, the McDonald’s system is proud to source the following products from Michigan’s farmers:
- 102 million pounds of pork
- 917,000 pounds of beef
- 127 million pounds of corn
- More than 28 million pounds of apples
- 51 million dozen eggs
- 54 million pounds of cucumbers
- 7 million gallons of milk
- 3.75 million pounds of butter
“We’re honored to work with our local farmers, and on behalf of nearly 70 owner-operators of the McDonalds system in the state of Michigan, we can’t say ‘Thank you’ enough to our Michigan growers, our suppliers, for providing us with the freshest and highest quality ingredients,” says Shawn Saputo, who owns and operates nine McDonald’s restaurants in Lansing and across Central Michigan.
This National Agriculture Week, McDonald’s of Michigan says “thank you, farmers”, and they look forward to the continued partnership they have with you.
