We do have some larger forecast windows opening for planting progress, but MAT Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin cautions you about getting too wild and crazy- there is still some moisture around.
That includes Friday, where we’ll see hit-and-miss scattered showers bringing anywhere from a tenth to three quarters of an inch of rain.
After that, Martin says, “I think we’re going to be dry for Saturday. We’re going to be dry for Sunday. We’re going to be dry for most of Monday. And then as we go into Tuesday, we see our next round of moisture show up.”
Tuesday rains could bring anywhere from a quarter to one inch across Michigan, again spotty like Friday’s rains.
“That rain likely extends into early Wednesday morning before getting out of here,” says Martin. “By the time all is said and done, we’re going to be seeing probably plenty of moisture that we’ll have to evaporate off. But we do see a drier window emerging behind that front for the Thursday, Friday, Saturday timeframe. All precipitation during that timeframe stays south. We could even get into Sunday, which would give us four days back-to-back-to-back of dry weather behind this next batch of rain.”
Martin looks beyond the 10-day forecast into Memorial Day.
“A weather system sits just to our west at the end of the 10-day forecast window coming together over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. I look for that to try and sneak across the Great Lakes late Sunday the 26th into Monday Memorial Day, the 27th. That also brings moisture anywhere from a tenth to half an inch, once again on the lighter side with kind of hit-and-miss, but it is moisture. That means we are not drying right away.”
