Chilly Temperatures, Rain in the Michigan Farm Forecast

Rain is in Michigan Ag Today Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin’s Seed Genetics Direct Harvest Weather Forecast for this weekend. Value. Knowledge. Performance. It’s in their genetics at Seed Genetics Direct.

Martin is tracking an upper level low just to our north that will bring hit and miss showers throughout the weekend.

“It’s not huge, but I think we pick up anywhere from a few hundredths to probably three or four tenths through the weekend here before all is said and done. Add to that the fact that it’s chilly. Temperatures are likely not going to get much out of the 50s, even lower 50s in spots. Overnight lows will be down in the upper 30s to low 40s. However, the one thing that I say helps us on the frost and freeze side of things is the fact that it’s going to be so cloudy I think it’s going to be very difficult to see a large-scale frost come together here.”

Clouds linger into the start of next week, according to Martin.

“I think we see better potential for sunshine but still seeing clouds rotate through Monday, particularly in the afternoon and the evening, and the first part of Tuesday. These clouds likely give some scattered precipitation in the UP and far northern tier counties of Lower Michigan, but everywhere else they keep a lid on temperatures and slow our drying through the first few days of next week. By Tuesday afternoon these clouds are trying to break up.”

Sunshine returns to Martin’s forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, providing great drying potential.

“But we’ve also got another significant weather system trying to come out of the central and southern plains moving across the rest of the Corn Belt. At this point, I think we are dry all of Thursday, but I have to allow for some scattered showers coming into southern Lower Michigan on Friday from this.”
