Part Two: More Changes to Engenia’s Label

Earlier this week, Trevor Kraus, tech service representative for BASF, explained one of the changes to the Engenia label.

There’s one other big adjustment to the new registration.

“Every application requires a pH buffering agent, or some call them volatility reduction agents,” said Kraus.

The buffering agents prevent the pH from the spray solution from becoming acidic, which enhances the chances of volatility or drift.

“For example, a tank mix of Engenia with glyphosate, glyphosate really lowers the pH, which could enhance the risk of volatility,” he said. “These pH buffering agents mitigate that change in pH and take that out of the equation.”

On the new label, Kraus says there’s a simplified cutoff date.

“Last year, there was a restriction you could only use Engenia up to 45 days after planting or R1,” he said. “Now it’s a simple calendar cutoff. It doesn’t matter when you plant your soybeans, we can spray until June 30 regardless of the stage the soybeans at planting date.”
