Part One: Changes to Engenia’s Label Makes it More Simplified

BASF’s Engenia herbicide received a new registration from the EPA for the 2021 season.

Trevor Kraus, technical service representative for BASF, says it means a few things for farmers.

“Once again, growers have the option of using dicamba, like Engenia, over-the-top in soybeans, which is an awesome tool for battling some of the most troublesome weeds,” he said.

Particularly glyphosate-resistant marestail and waterhemp.

“Dicamba, or Engenia, is excellent at controlling those problematic weeds,” said Kraus.

There were a few changes to the label. Krause says the first is that all non-dicamba crop use options have been removed.

“Previously Engenia could be used on corn, asparagus and rangelands—all of those uses have disappeared,” said Kraus. “Now you’ll only see the instructions on how to use Engenia on dicamba-tolerant soybeans or cotton.”
