Michigan’s crop and drought conditions have improved as more timely rains have fallen across the state over the past few weeks.

According to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report, 39 percent of Michigan’s corn and 33 percent of the state’s soybeans are rated in good-to-excellent condition.

In addition, the U.S. Drought Monitor says 20 percent of Michigan is experiencing a ‘moderate drought’ compared to 53 percent the week before.

Michigan Ag Today’s C.J. Miller chatted with Stuart Welden, a Field Sales Representative with Specialty Hybrids based out of Hillsdale County. Welden provides a full update on crop conditions across southern Michigan in the audio below, including an update on insect and disease pressure on Michigan’s corn and soybean crops.
