Herbruck’s Poultry Ranch, which is based in Michigan, says it is investing more than $20 million to build a new egg processing facility in Kendallville, Indiana.

When complete in the spring of 2026, the project is expected to create 60 jobs, according to Inside INdiana Business.

The 75,000-square-foot facility is currently being constructed along Weston Avenue in the Noble County city, located about 150 miles northeast of Indianapolis and about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne.

When fully operational, Herbruck’s said the facility will process about 420 million eggs annually.

“Our new Kendallville plant will increase our egg processing capacity to meet customer demand, allow for the local processing of Indiana farm eggs and distribute eggs directly from the site to our customers,” Associate Vice President of Operations Cody Herbruck said in a news release. “We are excited to be part of the Kendallville community and thank local leaders for their support.”

Herbruck’s is currently hiring for the new jobs. The company said it has received state tax incentives for the project, though more information was not immediately available from the Indiana Economic Development Corp.

“Herbruck’s is a family-owned company built on generations of hard work, and they’re making a long-term investment in Kendallville that will bring good-paying jobs and new opportunities to the area,” Indiana Gov. Mike Braun said in a written statement. “This new facility will leverage Indiana’s role as the Crossroads of America to help Hoosier-grown products reach customers across the Midwest.”

Herbruck’s bills itself as the largest egg producer in Michigan. In addition to the Kendallville facility, the company also has an egg farm in Pennsylvania.

An official groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at 852 Weston Avenue in Kendallville.
