We have a major weather event coming through this weekend that will change up the recent weather pattern. That’s according to Chief Meteorologist Ryan Martin. His Harvest Weather Forecast is presented by M&W Seeds and Greenstone Farm Credit Services.
“On Friday, it looks like this minor disturbance of the front-running part of this system comes through all of Michigan, which gives us a chance of rain over about 70% of the state,” he says.
“Then, we see the front reassert itself coming and building for Saturday midday afternoon right on through Saturday night and early Sunday. Right now, I think we have to pencil in anywhere from 0.25 to 2 inches of rain across all of Michigan. We might even see some higher totals, but it just depends on thunderstorms. I think it’s going to be a nice little streak in there where we can see some strong to severe weather definitely boosting our rain totals.”
He says we’ll be seeing drier weather once the front passes through.
“It’ll be clearing out probably as soon as a Sunday midday to afternoon in parts of the state. We see full clearing overnight Sunday night into Monday, which is dry now. We are watching a weather system trying to kick out of the western part of the Corn Belt. It doesn’t have a lot of moisture with it. I think we see a quarter-of-an-inch or so here across 60% of Michigan, but what it does do is draw down a different air mass. I think this is setting the stage for cooler temperatures for the rest of the week.”
Ryan adds that we could be seeing frost this coming week.
Wednesday forward this week is going to be cooler I do think we see widespread frosts in here but probably not a lot of Hardcore freezes it’s not that kind of air mass but definitely chili compared to what we’ve gotten used to over the past three four or five weeks or so this cool air holds into the weekend gets a reinforcing shot there with maybe a few spits and sprinkles for Friday into early Saturday then we go back into fully dry weather for the rest of the weekend and we see that cool temperature go all the way through at least midweek next week
