During the 97th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Michigan Ag Today caught up with the Cassopolis FFA Chapter from Cass County, Michigan and spoke with Alainna Preston, who talked about what she had to do to be able to join FFA.

“I go to Dowagiac High School and we don’t have an FFA program,” says Alainna. “So, I ventured out to talk to my counselor about joining the Cassopolis FFA chapter. I go to school there half the day and half the school at Dowagiac. I just saw the opportunities that FFA offered and all the leadership and decided that I wanted to join.”

Alainna shared what she was looking forward to most during the convention.

“I’d like to learn more about colleges and opportunities,” she says. “I’d also like to learn more about the other chapters in other states and how they run FFA there.”

Alaina says that her passion started on her family’s farm. Her father produces corn and soybeans and also is a dairy producer.

“FFA has helped me with leadership skills,” says Alaina, as she says she is considering attending Michigan State University.
