USDA Suspends Additional CFAP Payments Until Further Notice

When visiting USDA’s farmers.gov/cfap website, farmers and ranchers will immediately find a new alert from USDA, announcing the agency is suspending the processing and payments under the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP).

USDA is citing a White House memo, Regulatory Freeze Pending Review, outlining the Biden administration’s plan for managing the federal regulatory process.

“In the coming days, USDA and the Biden Administration intend to take additional steps to bring relief and support to all parts of food and agriculture during the coronavirus pandemic, including by ensuring producers have access to the capital, risk management tools, disaster assistance, and other federal resources,” said a statement on the website.

On January 15, USDA announced an expansion of the CFAP program and eligibility for more producers and commodities.

USDA said local FSA offices will continue to accept applications for CFAP during the evaluation period which ends February 26, 2021.
